Specifically, this guidance seeks to clarify the claimable savings for the A.O. Smith CAHP-120 commercial heat pump water heater, referencing the Large Commercial Heat Pump Water Heater, Commercial and Multifamily, Fuel Substitution measure package SWWH028. This guidance also describes future modifications needed for this measure package, including conversion to EnergyPlus modelling software. |

Revised guidance to address additional issues related to Large Commercial Heat Pump Water Heater, Commercial and Multifamily, Fuel Substitution Measure Package SWWH028.
CPUC issued a previous guidance memo1 on February 26, 2025, to address concerns related to capacity values used to estimate savings under SWWH028 that could lead to overstated energy savings. The memo also outlined requirements for submitting a measure package update utilizing EnergyPlus modeling for commercial buildings.
However, given the complexity and time required to develop and implement the model-based updates, this revised guidance seeks to better align capacity-based saving claims with the current DEER Water Heater Calculator-based saving estimates and provides revisions to the February guidance, along with additional interim guidance. |
